Changes to Our Governing Board!
In case you missed it, there are some important changes to our Governing Board.
- Leadership Change: Matt Germonprez will be stepping back from the Co-Directorship position but will remain an active part of the Board (and CHAOSS, don’t worry). Loads of congratulations go to Nicole Huesman for being elected to take his place as our new Co-Director! Nicole has been with the project a long time and her insight and experience in open source community health will help lead us to whatever’s next for CHAOSS. Welcome, Nicole!
- Leaving the Board: We are so grateful to Brian Proffitt and Ben Lloyd Pearson for their service over the years, and hope they continue to participate in the CHAOSS project in other capacities!
- Joining the Board: Congratulations to Amy Marrich and Armstrong Foundjem for being elected to the Board. We are so happy to have both of you in more official leadership roles within the CHAOSS project.
GrimoireLab Meetings on Hold
Sometimes time zones make it tricky for us all to connect via Zoom, so the core GrimoireLab team has decided to focus more on asynchronous communication for now. Although the meetings are on hold, you can absolutely continue to participate in discussions and issues on GitHub, IRC, or the mailing list.
Grace Hopper OSD Wrap Up
Huge thank you to all who helped out during this years’ virtual Grace Hopper Conference Open Source Day. We had some challenges with regard to time zones, and because it was virtual, it was more difficult to help people get set up and participate. We also had a huge outpouring of interest (110 people signed up compared to 12 last year!) and we want to thank the mentors who were instrumental in helping. Most of all, a huge thank you to Sean Goggins and Santiago Dueñas who acted as our project reps and shouldered most of the work. It was a lonnnng but awesome day.
Hacktoberfest Participation
If you or someone you know has been looking for projects to contribute to during Hacktoberfest, look no further than our very own GrimoireLab and Augur! Both projects will have issues marked for Hacktoberfest participants and would welcome contributions of all kinds!

New Home for Community Handbook
Our community handbook has a new link and can be found at https://handbook.chaoss.community/. Thanks to Jaskirat Singh for driving the improvements to our handbook and porting it to Gitbook. You can participate in its development through the GitHub repository: https://github.com/chaoss/community-handbook.
