CHAOSScast Episode 36: DEI Badging with Rachel Braun and Celia Stamps 

We were absolutely thrilled to host the amazing Rachel Braun and Celia Stamps from the Linux Foundation Events team in this latest CHAOSScast episode! Georg Link, Ruth Ikegah, Matt Germonprez, and Matt Cantu joined them to chat about the CHAOSS DEI Badging Initiative and their experience with going through the process multiple times. They discussed why it’s important to bring DEI metrics like these into practice, and how partnering with event organizers on an initiative like this helps everybody. Zoom Office Hours Now Open Every Monday 

Yesterday, we hosted our first open “office hours” session for newcomers who are joining the project. For those who aren’t familiar with this term, it’s a time when one of the CHAOSS community will be openly available on Zoom to answer any questions you have. No appointment needed; you can just hop on the CHAOSS Community Zoom call any time during the 2-hour window, and leave when your question has been answered.

Continuous Metrics Release: New Metrics Under Review

All the Working Groups have been hard at work, continuing to develop new metrics for use in measuring community health. In between our regular releases (which happen in March and September/October), we have what is called a “Continuous Metrics Release” so metrics developed during this time don’t have to wait months to be seen.

Currently open for review are these metrics, with more on the way!

Feel free to read through these metrics and make any comments or offer feedback. (These metrics will still be released under the community review period during the next release.)

Only a Few Workshops Left for Getting Started as a Contributor to CHAOSS Software

You still have time to join one of our upcoming workshop series. All workshops will be hosted on our Community Zoom (https://zoom.us/my/chaoss) and are from 8am – 10am CDT, 6:30pm – 8:30pm IST. You can join as an attendee, or a mentor! GSoC Students are also highly encouraged to attend.
