Important Meeting Changes

A new year often brings the opportunity for working groups to reassess their meeting days and times, to make sure they are still convenient for those who enjoy participating in them. The following changes are happening on the CHAOSS calendar:

  • Starting February 9, Evolution Working Group will move to every other Thursday at 12:00 pm US Central/Chicago
  • Risk Working Group is shifting by a week to offset the OSPO Working Group schedule. They will still happen every other Thursday at 1:00 pm. The next meeting is on February 16.
  • February 2 all CHAOSS meetings have been canceled for CHAOSScon. This includes Communications, Common, and Web Content Meetings.

Reasons to Join us for CHAOSScon EU 2023

We are super excited to invite you to CHAOSScon EU 2023, happening in conjunction with FOSDEM in Brussels, Belgium.  CHAOSScon day will happen on February 3 from 8:00 to 17:00 Central European Standard Time. Did you know:

  • Morning sessions will consist of interactive chats and panel discussions
  • The afternoon will be dedicated to GrimoireLab and Augur
  • During lunch there is an optional OSPO++ session titled Measuring OSS in Universities
  • The event is not able to be livestreamed, so you’ll have to join in person!
  • Registration is open and is $10USD to attend

New CHAOSScast: Revisiting Metrics Journey with Chris “Mercer” Mercer

We were thrilled to welcome Chris “Mercer” Mercer back to CHAOSScast for another episode! Our panelists Venia Logan and Lori Goldman chat with Mercer about measurement marketing, the ACE model, Google Analytics, and how these can be applied to an open source project. Of particular interest is the discussion on a potential new team at companies and projects specifically around measurement. You won’t want to miss this episode! Next Onboarding Session for New Chaotics

The CHAOSS community continues to grow! To make the onboarding process a little easier, Elizabeth Barron (CHAOSS Community Manager) and Ruth Ikegah (CHAOSS Africa Community Lead) will be hosting the next Onboarding Session on February 1, 2023 at 11:00 am US Central/Chicago time. We know this time is not convenient for everyone, but this is just a start and we will add and iterate as we go.

This meeting will cover:

  • General overview of CHAOSS
  • How you can begin contributing
  • How to get started with using the metrics
  • Q&A

The Last Newsletter Via the Mailing List

Typically when we publish our newsletter, we publish on the website (which triggers a Twitter post and a post in Slack), and then we send it to the CHAOSS mailing list. This will be the last edition to go to the mailing list, and we will be switching to Discourse next week! We plan to launch Discourse on Feb 1 so stay tuned to hear more about that transition.
