Reminder- Holiday/End of Year Break
Every year, CHAOSS makes it a priority to take a break from meetings and metrics work. Burnout is a real thing, and we’d like to keep our community members from feeling burned out in any way. One of the ways we do this is through this yearly break.
As a result, all CHAOSS meetings are canceled from December 11-Jan 8, 2024.
We hope you all enjoy the break and that we all come back in January feeling refreshed and inspired!
The Future of DEI Project Badging at CHAOSS
Many of you know that over the last year, CHAOSS partnered with All In and GitHub to pilot a DEI Project Badging Initiative. Now that the project is moving from pilot to production, it was decided that the project will move to the CHAOSS Badging Organization on GitHub and be managed independently by CHAOSS. The DEI Project Badging Initiative will be rebranded to look more like the DEI Event Badging and the two will live together under one subdomain of the CHAOSS website. We are incredibly grateful to All In and GitHub for being our Founding Partner and for getting this pilot project launched. To read more about this transition, you can read GitHub’s blog post.
New on the CHAOSS Blog: Part One of Three: Viability: An Open Source CHAOSS Metric (Super)Model
In the first of the series, CHAOTIC Gary White shares his thoughts around defining, tracking and measuring various aspects of open source viability and how Verizon uses CHAOSS metrics to gain more insight and make decisions about the open source software they adopt and maintain. You can read Gary’s post here. It’s a must-read!
CHAOSScast Episode 74: Building on top of CHAOSS Software
In the latest CHAOSScast episode, hosts Georg Link and Sean Goggins speak with CHAOTICS Yehui Wang (Huawei), Cali Dolfi (Red Hat), and Mike Nolan (RIT) about building software on top of Augur and GrimoireLab. More specifically, they discuss OSS Compass, 8 Knot, and Mystic, and how these open source projects utilize the functionality of Augur and GrimoreLab to expand data visualization, analysis, and reporting. It’s a must listen! You can find the podcast here: https://podcast.chaoss.community/74.
