(Most) Meetings Canceled the week of May 8-12 for OSSNA and CHAOSScon NA 2023
Because some of our core community members will be at OSSNA and CHAOSScon NA 2023, either in person or virtually, we decided to cancel most meetings next week (May 8-12). The only exceptions are these 2 meetings:
- CHAOSS Asia Pacific Community Meeting (Monday, May 8)
- Metrics Models Working Group (Tuesday, May 9)
CHAOSS community members are encouraged to participate in CHAOSScon NA virtually instead, by registering and lingering in our #chaosscon Slack channel. And of course, for a completely updated CHAOSS meeting schedule, you’re encouraged to subscribe to our official CHAOSS Calendar. See you again soon!

Say Hello to the CHAOTIC of the Week – Anita Ihuman
We are starting a new feature in our newsletter called the “CHAOTIC of the Week” where we highlight one of our amazing community members. For our first CHAOTIC, we learn more about Anita Human and the wonderful work she’s been contributing to CHAOSS.
A little about Anita:
I am Anita Ihuman, a developer advocate and technical writer. I have developed great experience managing communities and advocating and educating on topics relating to DevOps, cloud computing, containerized workloads, and microservices. I am passionately involved in open source, documentation, community, and DEI-focused programs. I spend a lot of my time educating the developer market about new tools, technologies, and best practices through public speaking and content writing. I love cats and animations.
What Anita’s currently working on at CHAOSS:
I am currently working on DEI research titled “Interview Campaign with Underrepresented Groups in Open Source,” courtesy of the CHAOSS DEI working group. This research is aimed at understanding open-source DEI activities in real time and how they relate to the metrics we presently measure at CHAOSS. You can find out more about this project here.
I also contribute as a reviewer for the DEI Badging project and partake in activities under the CHAOSS Africa project.
Anita’s advice to newcomers to open source:
If this is your first time and you feel overwhelmed like I did, don’t sweat it. Just find a niche within the community that you are most comfortable with and start there. If you are not sure where? Ask questions. Not sure how? Join us during our office hours. See you around!
Special thanks from Elizabeth and the CHAOSS Community:
Anita has been in CHAOSS for a few years now, and she’s brought so much to our community! We’ve really appreciated all her hard work with the DEI survey, the Badging, and also to the contribution of metrics! Anita attends several CHAOSS meetings regularly, and it’s always a pleasure to hear her insight and input on the calls. Thanks for making our community better, Anita! ❤️
